Flu clinics update (08.09.21)

You will probably have seen information in the media saying that there will be a delay to this year's flu clinics across the country. Like other Practices, we received an email on Friday 3rd September from the company who provide our flu vaccines stating that due to ‘unforeseen road freight challenges’ there could be a one-to-two-week delay to when our flu vaccines are delivered. Given that we do not yet know when our delivery will arrive and there is still a chance, we may receive it in time for the first clinic on Saturday 2nd October 9am to 3pm .

We have decided not to re-schedule just yet as we want you have access to your flu vaccine as soon as possible, however, we will not invite you until we have heard our confirmed delivery date from the supplier.

We know this is disappointing news and we still have our fingers crossed that the delivery will get to us on time. We will keep updating the news section on our website so please make sure you check here regularly and if you have not given us your mobile phone number or consented to us contacting you by text please do so – it helps us get information to you as quickly as possible. Please do not contact us to ask if the clinics have been rescheduled – we will send texts and letters once we know. Thank you.

From 26 July 2021  there will be routine (non-urgent) pre-bookable telephone appointments available to book online or via reception each afternoon.

From 19th July, nothing will change at the surgery.  Patients will still need to wear a mask, socially distance and use hand sanitiser whilst in the surgery.  Staff will continue to wear PPE.   Thank you for your co-operation.

Please if possible order your prescriptions online or call the surgery between 10.30am and 1pm only.

If you needing a non urgent call back from a clinician then please only call between 8.30am and 10.30am Monday - Friday or 1pm - 3pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.

Please see our Special Privacy Notice and COVID-19 Privacy Notice with regards to your data processing during these unprecedented times.

Due to advice given by the BMA regarding the recent Coronavirus outbreak, we have temporarily had to stop our Drop-in facility, our early morning and late appointment 'extended hours' and also all future bookable online appointments.  This is for the health and safety of EVERYONE.  We apologise for this inconvenience and hope that normal service will resume in the near future.

Watch out in both surgeries for our campaign to get patients registered for online services.

Routine Pre-bookable appointments can be made online or by telephoning the Medical Centre during opening hours on the above telephone number.

Please indicate to the receptionist if you wish to see a particular doctor.

Routine appointments normally offer the best opportunity to discuss your problems with a doctor:

  • You will have protected time
  • It is usually possible to discuss your concerns in some depth, or perhaps more than one issue that has been concerning you

We encourage patients to follow through a particular problem with the same doctor, who will come to know their case in some detail. Appointments which are booked in advance will enable this to happen.

Please note that, due to demand, there may be a delay of a few days for the next routine appointment with the doctor of your choice.

Urgent Appointments

There are a few appointments each day are reserved for urgent problems.

Also if it is deemed appropriate, you may be offered an appointment at one of four GP access centres across Sheffield 6pm-10pm weekdays, and 10am-6pm weekends, for more information click here.

Language and Interpreting Services

English – Somali interpretation is normally available at Hanover Medical Centre on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday Mornings.

If you require interpreting services for other languages at your appointment, then please let us know in advance.

In emergency cases, the surgery is able to use a telephone interpreting service.

Appointment Reminders by Text

The surgery will send reminders of appointments by a text message to your mobile phone (normally 24 hours ahead of the appointment).

Please make sure we have your up-to-date mobile number on our records; tell us if you choose not to receive these messages on your mobile.

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.

On your text reminder there is an option to cancel your appointment by texting CANCEL to the number shown in the message.

Also if you are registered for online services, you can cancel appointments online when the practice is closed (even if you didn't book the appointment online).
